A native of Western Colorado, artist Sandy Maguire, grew up on a ranch. She graduated with a teaching degree from UNC and spent 13 wonderful years teaching language arts and speech at high schools and middle school. She later obtained her ED.D in Educational Administration and spent 21 exciting years as a middle school principal. Upon retiring early, a gift from God saved her sanity and she began exploring a unique process of being able to fire wood in a kiln. As a result of her efforts, she is well known for her unique one of a kind wood wall art pieces. And without one art class under her belt, she is known as a “masterful technician”.
Wood fired in a kiln!!! Can’t be done. Indeed, it can and artist Sandy Maguire, who developed the technique and process will be showing her Mixed Media 2 dimensional art at the Albuquerque Art Show case. Sandy’s work is so unique, it is the rare person who can determine that all of her work is made of wood. The western and Native genre of her work provides many subjects which inspire her to create contemporary wall art. Do stop by and see a most unique type of art; all original and all one of a kind.
