ASD 2017 Day 3: A [FUSION] of Exhibitors and Collectors

 In ASD17, Show Recap

Saturday at Art San Diego was all about the [FUSION] of exhibitors and collectors—from Meet the Artist events where attendees got the rare opportunity to get up close and personal with the artistic process to an Art Talk where Patric Stillman, director at The Studio Door, and Alexander Salazar, owner of Alexander Salazar Fine Art, discussed how to begin and build a successful art collection.

The highlight was Young Collectors’ Night, where budding art aficionados mingled while tapping their feet to tunes and enjoying Louis Jadot wines, live art demonstrations, and work from cutting-edge artists.

We’re proud to honor select Art San Diego exhibitors with special recognition for their talents and efforts last night. Congratulations to all of this year’s award winners!

  • Best Sculpture: Sergott Contemporary Art of Rancho Santa Fe, California
  • Best New Exhibitor: Evan Lurie Gallery of Carmel, Indiana
  • Best New International Exhibitor: Peimbert Art of Acapulco, Mexico
  • Best Booth Design: Pippin Contemporary of Santa Fe, New Mexico
  • Directors’ Award: Masterworks Fine Art Gallery of Oakland Hills, California

There’s still time left to take in—and take home—amazing artwork from talented artists and galleries from the region and beyond. Make sure to stop by the World Wide Art booth, where multidisciplinary artist Roberto Georgge is showcasing four pieces he created to honor the victims of the magnitude-7.1 earthquake that rocked central Mexico Sept. 19. All of the earnings from his sales at Art San Diego will be used to support earthquake relief efforts.

We hope to see you on the final day of the show! Here’s a look at the full schedule. Make sure to follow Art San Diego on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for updates this weekend and leading up to next year’s show, and check back here for a full show recap soon, featuring sales highlights, exhibitor success stories, and more.
